China, officially the People's Republic of China (PRC), is a sovereign state in East Asia. It is the world's most populous country, with a population of over 1.35 billion. The PRC is a one-party state governed by the Communist Party, with its seat of government in the capital city of Beijing. It exercises jurisdiction over 22 provinces; five autonomous regions; four direct-controlled municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing); two mostly self-governing special administrative regions (Hong Kong and Macau); and claims sovereignty over Taiwan.
Covering approximately 9.6 million square kilometers, China is the world's second-largest country by land area, and either the third or fourth-largest by total area, depending on the method of measurement. China's landscape is vast and diverse, ranging from forest steppes and the Gobi and Taklamakan deserts in the arid north to subtropical forests in the wetter south. The Himalaya, Karakoram, Pamir and Tian Shan mountain ranges separate China from South and Central Asia. The Yangtze and Yellow Rivers, the third- and sixth-longest in the world, run from the Tibetan Plateau to the densely populated eastern seaboard. China's coastline along the Pacific Ocean is 14,500 kilometres (9,000 mi) long, and is bounded by the Bohai, Yellow, East and South China Seas.

Hong Kong (香港; "Fragrant Harbour"), officially Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, is an autonomous territory on the southern coast of China at the Pearl River Estuary and the South China Sea. Hong Kong is known for its skyline and deep natural harbour. It has a land area of 1104 km2 and shares its northern border with Guangdong Province of Mainland China. With around 7.2 million inhabitants of various nationalities, Hong Kong is one of the world's most densely populated metropolises.
After the First Opium War (1839–42), Hong Kong became a British colony with the perpetual cession of Hong Kong Island, followed by Kowloon Peninsula in 1860 and a 99-year lease of the New Territories from 1898. Hong Kong remained under British control for about a century until the Second World War, when Japan occupied the colony from December 1941 to August 1945. After the Surrender of Japan, the British resumed control. In the 1980s, negotiations between the United Kingdom and the China resulted in the 1984 Sino-British Joint Declaration, which provided for the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong on 30 June 1997. The territory became a special administrative region of China with a high degree of autonomy on 1 July 1997 under the principle of one country, two systems. Disputes over the perceived misapplication of this principle have contributed to popular protests, including the 2014 Umbrella Revolution.
Antiquities are objects from Antiquity, especially the civilizations of the Mediterranean: the Classical antiquity of Greece and Rome, Ancient Egypt and the other Ancient Near Eastern cultures. Artifacts from earlier periods such as the Mesolithic, and other civilizations from Asia and elsewhere may also be covered by the term. The phenomenon of giving a high value to ancient artifacts is found in other cultures, notably China, where Chinese ritual bronzes, three to two thousand years old, have been avidly collected and imitated for centuries, and the Pre-Columbian cultures of Mesoamerica, where in particular the artifacts of the earliest Olmec civilization are found reburied in significant sites of later cultures up to the Spanish Conquest.
The definition of the term is not always precise, and institutional definitions such as museum "Departments of Antiquities" often cover later periods, but in normal usage Gothic objects, for example, would not now be described as antiquities, though in 1700 they might well have been, as the cut-off date for antiquities has tended to retreat since the word was first found in English in 1513. Non-artistic artifacts are now less likely to be called antiquities than in earlier periods. Francis Bacon wrote in 1605: "Antiquities are history defaced, or some remnants of history which have casually escaped the shipwreck of time".

Mandarin/Nat Foreign plunder and cultural neglect have contributed to the loss of countless national treasures from historical sites and sacred ruins across China. Now, powerful, rich groups of mainland entrepreneurs are joining forces and pooling their resources to try and retrieve those valuable artefacts which are surfacing on the international art market. If famous auction houses can't be persuaded to return the works of art stolen from China, wealthy groups are simply paying whatever it costs to bring home these priceless pieces of history. Tourists pose for pictures and clamber over the ruins at Beijing's Old Summer Palace. The ancient monument was built during the reign of the Manchu Emperor Qianlong. The Qiandao Lake in China's Zhejiang Province is home to natural wonder! Qiandao literally means 1000 islands. But what lies underneath is even more mysterious. Deep under these waters is as an ancient submerged city, dating back to the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-200 AD). It was once known as Lion City, named after the 5 Lion Mountain it's nestled under. The 100 feet deep waters have perfectly preserved this city from antiquity. They call it China's Atlantis Rediscovered. Except, rediscovered might not quite be the right word, since it's only been under water for about 50 years and it's only underwater because they flooded it when they built a dam. When you think of bells, you might think of a call to dinner or sounding an alarm. But if you lived in ancient China, bells were used quite differently–to track pets and as part of funeral rituals. Perhaps the most striking: how they evolved into complex musical instruments. CGTN’s Frances Kuo is in Washington, DC.

Here in this post is again overwhelming evidence for the use of Atmospheric Electricity. In this post we examining photos of Russian Towns 1890- 1900 you see what appear to me telegraph posts but without wires or cables .And all lined up across towns at 30 metres intervals ,also odd out of place poles ,and Church steeples to possibly pick up the free energy .We look at a panoramic of Moscow 1867, and extraordinarily early photo ,with again "No population". The evidence shows that all devices where eradicated by FIRE!. A huge number of Russian Cities where destroyed by fire so hiding the past. As in America ,as in Europe and so on .So the question is what in the hell is going on? It would appear that all before 1900 was an unimaginable sophisticated people, and technology .So what exactly h...

Conflict in the Middle East and elsewhere has fueled a booming trade in looted antiquities from archaeological sites and museums. Millions of dollars worth of artifacts have disappeared, with some resurfacing for sale in Europe and the United States. The black market trade provided tens of millions of dollars of funding for the Islamic State, one of the largest groups involved in the business. With ISIS nearing defeat, archaeologists are looking for ways to halt the trade in looted artifacts from Syria, Iraq and other conflict zones. On this edition of Global Journalist, we discuss the trade in stolen cultural artifacts. More information about the movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1371111/ Quote from the David Mitchell's novel: "Dreamt I stood in a china shop so crowded from floor to far-off ceiling with shelves of porcelain antiquities etc. that moving a muscle would cause several to fall and smash to bits. Exactly what happened, but instead of a crashing noise, an august chord rang out, half-cello, half-celeste, D major (?), held for four beats. My wrist knocked a Ming vase affair off its pedestal - E-flat, whole string section, glorious, transcendent, angels wept. Record sales by major auction houses in Asia have been partly fuelled by the patriotic buying of antiquities by Chinese tycoons and state-backed organizations. Buyers from China, a country with almost a million millionaires, have been snapping up Chinese art and artefacts, reflecting their growing wealth and increasingly sophisticated tastes. "The Bruce has had the benefit of being owned by the people in town but really hasn't attracted people from far and wide," said Fred Brooks, donor of the collection. "It's our hope that this will be the instigation for other people, not only collectors of Chinese antiquities who could augment our collection and help it grow into other periods, but to make The Bruce a destination." One of the strangest consequences of the Greek crisis: the looting of greek antiquities by a farmer, intending to sell it on the Greek antiquities black market. When the poverty in Greece hits everyone and when the Greek protest in the streets, one farmer decided to save his own head from the Greek austerity by selling antiquities for a few million euros. On May 19, 2010, the Greek government reported a very rare finding of two statues of Greek antiquity. The Kouros statues - both 2700 years old - were found on the land of a Greek farmer who was planning to trade them illegally for tens of millions of euros abroad. Backlight is looking at the mysterious story behind the discovery of the two statues and strikes on a true crime story, a whodunnit in the Greek countryside. Original title: Een...

Here, we are going to view wood carvings of servants, discovered (in 1905) in a tomb from around 2,000BC. Egyptian tombs sometimes contained small figures showing people engaged in ordinary, domestic tasks such as baking, weaving, brewing and so forth. Such statues, known as serving statues, were included in the tomb to ensure that the deceased would enjoy the benefits of the products and services represented. We are also going to view Egyptian funerary boats on display. The boats symbolize the transport of the dead person or their soul, from life to the afterlife. Egyptians saw death as a boat...

Top Things to do in China! I know that this is long overdue and that I haven't posted a video in a while, but seriously China!! Anyways, this list is less about the top attractions in China and more about the best ones. Moreover, it features the off the beaten path destinations in China as well. So what are the most incredible things to do in China. Here's my take: 10) Changsha and the Mao Zedong Staute (长沙和毛泽东雕像) This is crazy, in the capital of Hunan Province there's a giant statue of Mao Zedong that looks like something out of Mount Rushmore. Definitely a top thing to see in China. 9) Bifengxia Panda Base (碧峰峡大熊猫保护区) The Panda Center in Chengdu is a bit over-touristed. That's why it's a great option to head to Bifengxia on the edge of the village of Ya'an, and up to this amazing ...
